Open Data Key Principles and General Guidelines​

King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy (K.A.CARE) makes open data available to all users through its website, the National Open Data Portal, or both. Open data is provided in machine-readable formats and is updated annually. Comprehensive open data is provided with the highest level of disclosure. Open data is acc​essible to all users without the need to login, and all open data is provided free of charge.

Open Data General Guidelines

Open data is classified based on its expected benefit, taking into account accuracy, currency, consistency, and potential users who may benefit from the data. Prepared data is published according to priority and significance through K.A.CARE’s website or the National Open Data Portal, or both, ensuring data quality, accuracy, and regular updates. In the final stage, the usage and performance of open data are monitored, and new data requests are analyzed to reorganize the data according to actual needs.

Freedom of Information Key Principles and General Guidelines

Data is made available to all users of K.A.CARE’s portal to promote participation and knowledge enhancement. Users are encouraged to review the data usage policy to remain informed of any updates. All open data available on the portal in intended for informational purposes. Users have the right to access and use open data at their own responsibility, this right is guaranteed to all beneficiaries and the data is provided free of charge.

User Responsibility

Users are fully responsible for any reuse of open data available at K.A.CARE’s portal. Such reuse should not result in errors related to data content, source, or date.

K.A.CARE is not liable for any damages or misuse experienced by entities using this published data. K.A.CARE does not guarantee the continuous availability of all or part of the data, and is not responsible for any harm or loss that may occur from using this data.

Terms of Reuse

Users should not alter open data or its source. Users should not use the data for political purposes, unlawful or criminal activities, racial discrimination, incitement, or any activities contrary to the laws, customs, and traditions of the Kingdom. The source of the data must be clearly indicated, and a link to K.A.CARE’s portal should be provided to ensure intellectual property, credibility, and accuracy.

Objectives:
The Open Data Platform serves as a central hub that offers faster and easier access to download, and utilize datasets published by K.A.CARE. Individuals and businesses can leverage open data for research, reports and statistics. Open data also supports new businesses and the development of mobile applications. The platform also enables the integration and synthesis of information from multiple sources, enhancing knowledge and expertise.​

​King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy (K.A.CARE) provides open data through the National Open Data Portal to enable stakeholders to access and leverage open data. The data includes a variety of datasets in multiple formats.
Open Data of Renewable Energy Atlas

The National Atlas of Renewable Energy Resources is an electronic platform containing a comprehensive geospatial and climate database of renewable energy resources across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The platform serves as a reference for identifying renewable energy potential. It currently provides detailed information on solar energy measurements, as well as wind energy resources. Data is collected from more than 50 monitoring stations distributed throughout the Kingdom, as shown in table 1.​
