In support of achieving the goals of the National Transformation Program 2020 and in an effort fulfill the aspirations of the Kingdom's vision 2003, K.A.CARE and Umm Al-Qura University signed a MOU, where H.E. the Vice-President, Dr. Waleed Bin Hussain Abulfaraj represented K.A.CARE and HE the University's Director Dr. Bakri Bin Maatouq Asas represented Umm Al-Qura University. The signing of the memorandum of understanding comes from possible areas of cooperation with the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Institute for Hajj and Umrah Research which aims at optimizing the use of renewable energy technologies to serve guests of the wholly sites in Makkah and Al Medina through the initiative of localization of renewable energy technologies. The Kingdom seeks Through the National Transformation Program, to localize many renewable energy technologies in a manner that is commensurate with the requirements of the local environment and is economically viable and enable their commercialization. The Kingdom is also looking forward to serving at least 2.5 million pilgrims by 2020 and more than 30 million performers of minor pilgrimage annually in 2030.
