King Abdullah City for Atomic & Renewable Energy K.A.CARE launched today 6th of Shawwal, 1437H the summer training program for Nuclear Engineering Students at King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah, one of the rehabilitation programs for Saudi students in the field of nuclear engineering qualifying them to become pioneers of the future energy in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The program comes as one of the foundational steps to localize the nuclear energy in the Kingdom and transfer of cognitive experience and technical expertise from the experts and international energy pioneers to the native youth to enable Kingdom 2030 vision develop a mix of atomic and renewable energy resources to ease the overall dependence on oil for power generation. The summer training program includes for this year (1437H/2016G) two programs one of them is to be held in France for a period of 7 weeks and consists of 16 students and supervisors from K.A.CARE and the other program will be held in Korea for a period of 8 weeks and it consists of 16 students and supervisors from K.A.CARE to follow on the training program. The summer training program for Nuclear Engineering Students is considered one of the mechanisms of action and initiatives undertook by K.A.CARE to fulfill the Kingdom's vision in the empowerment of the national energy mix which is considered among the plans of the national transformation program 2020 which will contribute to achieving the following strategic goals of the program.
- Enable the atomic energy to contribute to the national energy mix according to local requirements and international commitments.
- Increase the local content in the chains of industrial and service value and localizing technical expertise in the technics of both atomic and renewable energy sectors and commercially investing it.
- Rehabilitation of the human capital required for both the atomic and renewable energy sectors.
