The Vice President of King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable energy (K.A.CARE) Dr. Waleed Abu Al Faraj received this morning, Tuesday 22 Rabi II 1436H corresponding to January 13, 2015 in his office at the K.A.CARE’s headquarter in Riyadh the American Deputy Minister of energy Dr. Elizabeth Sherwood Randal and the accompanying delegation which is currently visiting the Kingdom. The meeting was attended by a number of K.A.CARE’s key officials and the American Ambassador to the Kingdom Mr. Joseph W. Wistval and a number of high ranking officials from the American Ministry of Energy . This meetings comes in line with the framework of the American Deputy Minister of energy visit to the Kingdom during the period 12 – 15 January 2015 to meet with officials in a number of departments in each of Riyadh and the Eastern Province.
During the meeting the Kingdom’s strategic plans in the field of Atomic and Renewable Energy were highlighted in addition to the currently existing projects and activities on which K.A.CARE is working and through which the Kingdom seeks to use sustainable alternative reliable resources for generating energy in an effort to reduce dependence on hydrocarbon materials.
During this meeting a number of topics of common interest in the field of the peaceful use of atomic energy and renewable energy were discussed and considered, also it was agreed to proceed with implementing a number of programs and projects mainly in the scopes of research and development and human capacity building and exchanging experiences to enhance ways of cooperation between the two sides and to support the Kingdom’s plans to diversify the sources of sustainable energy.
It is noteworthy to mention that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabic endeavors to introduce a sustainable mix of atomic and renewable energy in the local energy system, which is the purpose for which the K.A.CARE was established. K.A.CARE works on enhancing international cooperation with many parties, as the Kingdom has concluded agreements for cooperation in the field of peace nuclear energy with a number of countries such as France, Korea, China and Argentina, also discussions with a number of industrial countries such as USA, UK and the Federal Republic of Russia and Hungary are being conducted to conclude similar agreements.
In this regard, Dr. Waleed Husain Abu Al Faraj – Vice President of K.A.CARE assured the Kingdoms quest, through these international agreements, to transform the peaceful nuclear partnership from the stage of agreements to the phase of actual partnership on the basis of transparency and mutual understanding standards atop of which the development and management of nuclear projects and research and development and qualifying Saudi cadres and localization of the nuclear industry in the Kingdom, this comes in the aim of developing mutual working models and strategic goals to develop and introduce the sources of sustainable energy such as atomic and renewable energy, as well as the mechanisms and executive plans to be followed by the Kingdom to guarantee the localization of the chain of industrial and service components for the nuclear energy and development of national human cadres.
