The President of King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy (K.A. CARE) Dr. Hashem Abdullah Yamani deliver a speech at the opening of the World Summit for future energy 2015 in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates.
Dr. Hashem began his speech by thanking the organizers for the efforts exerted to ensure the success of such forums.
He said that all the energy used in the Kingdom comes from hydrocarbon resources. The indisputable fact is that energy is the basis of any economy, as it is without energy there will be no development and without sustainable energy there is no sustainable development. It could be stated that the most sought by mankind during the past one hundred years was to obtain energy resources that enable him to achieve more by using less resources.
Today the main quest of humanity has become to search for sources of energy that are – in the same time – clean and dense content, portable and available for all. The world is still living in the shadow of a century of heavy use of hydrocarbon based energy sources which have provided commendable and vital support to the economic development of nations.
The President has stated that renewable energy, by its nature, is available to all. Sun shines daily in every corner of the globe and at different times, it shines bright enough to assemble its capacity appropriately, then deliver it sustainably whenever the need arises and he referred to the good Icelandic experience in which renewable energy has contributed – or led – when incorporated into the national energy system in Iceland to the development of the national economy.

The President added that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is working on formulating ambitious but practical solutions to find a national strategy for the atomic and renewable energy that could be sustainably implemented within the national energy system in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He mentioned that Saudi Arabia began considering the next twenty years, Putting in the year 2032 a major milestone in this long-term planning.
