KACARE has today convened the Ministerial Meeting at its Headquarters in Riyadh today, whereas it has discussed matters of common interest with the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning of the Republic of Korea. The said meeting has taken place in the aftermath of KACARE’s and MSIP’s signature of a Memorandum of Understanding on nuclear peaceful uses in the audience of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman ibn Abdulaziz and His Excellency the President of the Republic of South Korea. The MOU has conspicuously outlined a joint co-partnership relevant to the development of “SMR” reactor technologies nuclear human capacity building, academic research, as well as enhancement of nuclear associations eventually working together for the best interest of a creative economy.
The above meeting was attended by an elite of KACARE’s experts chaired by the President of King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy Dr. Hashim Abdullah Yamani and Dr. Waleed Abulfaraj, Vice-President. On the Korean part, the meeting was attended by a number of MSIP, headed by His Excellency the Minister of MSIP and his Deputy. It was also attended by the President of the Nuclear Power Research Institute and the President of KAIST.
The two sides have also discussed the outstanding joint projects as well as ways and means to boost future cooperative activities within the framework of the international agreement reached and signed by and between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of South Korea in 2011 on the development and application of nuclear power for peaceful purposes.
