His Excellency the President of King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy, Dr. Hashim Abdullah Yamani has today, Wednesday, received Her Excellency Mrs. Park Geun-hye, the President of the Republic of South Korea at King Saudi Palace in Riyadh.
The two sides discussed matters of common interest based on the spirit and framework of the bilateral agreement the two countries signed in 2011 on the development and applications of nuclear power for peaceful uses. Furthermore, both sides took up ways and means to enhance future cooperation in the field of nuclear energy with an objective of supporting national economy. This meeting came in the aftermath of the Memorandum of Understanding which KACARE had signed with the South Korean Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning “MSIP”, the baseline of which was mutual cooperation in the field of nuclear peaceful uses as specifically outlined in the co-partnership focusing on the technologies to be utilized in the development and promotion of system-integrated Modular Advanced Reactor “SMR”, joint human-capability building, and academic research activities.

The said meeting was preceded by the convening of the Ministerial Meeting with the South Korean MSIP and Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Power.
