Today was the opening of the Annual Conference of the International Agency for Atomic Energy in its 59th session for the period from 1 to 5/12/1436H (14 to 18/9/2015G). The Kingdom participates with a delegation comprising a number of officials from concerned authorities in the Kingdom.  The Kingdom’s delegation is presided over by Dr. Hashem Yamani, The President of King Abdullah City for Atomic & Renewable Energy who will deliver the Kingdom’s speech.  Member states of the International Agency for Atomic Energy participating in the conference will discuss over five days period the activities, programs and plans of the International Agency for Atomic Energy, its budget and the procedures of promoting international cooperation related to nuclear safety in nuclear areas and the transfer of radioactive material, management of radioactive waste and promotion of technical cooperation between the Agency and member states.  Also, the delegates will discuss the mechanism of application and implementation of safeguards relevant to the non-proliferation of nuclear arms.
