KING ABDULLAH CITY FOR ATOMIC AND RENEWABLE ENERGY (KACARE) SIGNS A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING (MOU) WITH HAIL UNIVERSITY

11/4/2015

On Wednesday 22 Muharram 1436 corresponding to 4 November 2015, Dr. Waleed Hussein Abolfaraj, KACARE’s  Vice-President, signed with His Excellency the Rector of Hail University Dr. Khalil Ibrahim Al-Ibrahim at KACARE’s HQs a Memorandum of Understanding aiming at conducting studies and devising solutions for sustainable energy.  The MOU aims further to enhance mutual  cooperation  to be centered at the development of academic syllabuses with a view to make them more compatible with sustainable energy (renewable and nuclear)prerequisites.  Focus will be on developing  sustainable energy research programs.  Such research activities will be so oriented as to develop sustainable energy technologies and applications in the Kingdom.  Under the MOU, KACARE shall also provide Hail University with the technical advice to enable the University found a Hail University-based Sustainable Energy Research Center.  KACARE shall also provide the technical advice needed to develop and establish renewable-energy producing stations with a view to maximize benefits and, at the same time, minimize costs to Hail University and branches thereof.  Another objective is mutual training and exchange of expertise and information on joint activities.

A number of high-ranking officials from both KACARE and Hail University witnessed the event. Similarly, KACARE has recently signed mutual cooperation Agreements with a number of Agencies and Organizations within the Kingdom.  This policy constitutes an integral part of KACARE’s philosophy which underpins that it is imperative for KACARE to foster and enhance mutually beneficial cooperation with other Government Agencies and strengthen relationships therewith, with clear-cut intention and determination to make the utmost utilization of experiences and expertise gained.

We believe it would be in place at this point to remind that a prerogative of KACARE is  to recommend appropriate atomic and renewable energy national policies, and to lay down such plans and strategies as needed to bring them to success and fruition. This includes, but is not limited to, support of scientific R&D activities; localization of technology within its jurisdiction; identification and coordination of such activities with other concerned scientific institutions and centers in the Kingdom, where applicable; setting forth priorities and national policies in atomic and renewable energy for the sake of building a robust and deep-rooted base upon which power generation and water desalination schemes can be unshakably founded; and last but not the least, to develop national scientific skills and cadres, duly motivated by its mandate to establish and administer certain enterprises and projects oriented towards achievement of its objectives, or, similarly  , to establish joint projects  with other parties.  It is probably appropriate to remind , by the way,  that Hail University is one of those universities earnestly endeavoring  to qualify national skills and cadres , thus making  them quite ready to ably participate in and actively contribute to the promising sustainable energy sector.
