The President of King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy, Dr. Hashim Yamani, paid a visit to His Royal Highness Prince Khalid bin Bandar Al Saud, Governor of Riyadh region in his office. Present was His Royal Highness Prince Turky bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, Deputy of the governor of Riyadh region. At the outset of the visit, a briefing was given on the City and the role thereof in building a sustainable future for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, through the inclusion of the sources of atomic and renewable energy within the local energy system. After that, the President presented to His Highness the Governor of Riyadh region and His Highness the Deputy of the governor of Riyadh region a demonstration, displaying the City’s vision, focusing on attraction of sustainable and reliable alternative sources with a view to generate electricity and produce desalinated water. Such an approach should lower the consumption of fossil fuel and, consequently, would provide future additional security. The net result would be the conservation of natural resources. In the conclusion, the demonstration summed up the envisaged outcome of the establishment of the new HQ of the City in the site under construction in the western part of Riyadh City.
