On the side lines of the Hague 3rd Nuclear Summit held on 23-24 Jumada I, 1435 corresponding to 24-25 March 2014, Dr. Hashim Abdullah Yamani, President of the King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy, Head of the Saudi Delegation to the Hague Summit met a number of Delegation Heads at the Summit. Those Delegation Heads Dr. Yamani met were those of the People’s Republic of China, Republic of Turkey, Republic of South Africa, Hungary Republic, Finland, Kingdom of Belgium and Commonwealth of Australia. Those present at the meetings were Dr. Walid Hussein Abulfaraj, Vice-President, and the Accompanying Delegates.
The meetings addressed subjects of mutual interest such as peaceful uses of the nuclear energy, assurances that measures taken to enhance nuclear security shall in no way prejudice the right of Member States to develop and use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, and to make the Middle East Area free from nuclear arms.
The meetings have also tackled issued related to cooperation between the Kingdom and each of the above-named countries in the field of nuclear and renewable energy, taking into account means and ways which would be supportive to the Kingdom’s ambitious Initiatives being targeted at various energy sectors and development of human resources capabilities and skills through provision of training and rehabilitation schemes and programs, and adoption and application of adequate and appropriate technologies, with special focus on quality and sustainability concepts, and maximizing the roles to be played by economic and industrial sectors forming the mainstay of the Kingdom’s initiatives.
