King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy, K.A.CARE’s Vice-President, Dr. Waleed Hussein Abulfaraj, received in his office at K.A.CARE’s Headquarters this evening, Thursday corresponding to 12 June 2014, the French Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Mr. Bertrand Besancenot. A number of K.A.CARE and the French Embassy officials in Riyadh attended the meeting. During the meeting topics of mutual interests to both the Saudi and French sides were tackled, particularly those concerning peaceful uses of atomic and renewable energy. The meeting also touched on measures having to do with the implementation of the agreement concluded between the two countries on mutual cooperation in the area of energy.
It is noteworthy that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy, had earlier signed a cooperative agreement with France permitting those concerned corporations in both countries to further enhance mutual cooperation in such fields as production, utilization and transfer of technologies of the peaceful uses of nuclear energy.
Dr. Waleed had previously stated that the said Agreement makes the door wide open before Saudi scientists to familiarize themselves with the options related to the French technologies available, their financial requirements as well as the demand for skilled national human resources who are adequately and properly qualified to contribute to the establishment of alternative energy plants intended for electricity production and water desalination.
