King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable energy (KACARE) held a workshop titled: “The current national program for Radiation Protection in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia” during the period from 08-12/06/2014 in K.A.CARE headquarter in Riyadh, KSA. This workshop is part of the Atomic energy sector activities for the development of the National Regulator for Nuclear Safety in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority of Finland (STUK) is the technical strategic partner who facilitated the workshop and provided the know-how and the technical aspects for this development.
The workshop focused in its discussions on the following functions:
- Current procedures at the National Center for Radiation Protection.
- National Plan for Nuclear and Radiological Emergencies.
- radiation monitoring stations and early warning systems.
Also, the workshop included some field visits to observe the inspection procedures and evaluate the current processes including licensees feedback.
The Radiation and Nuclear Safety team in Finland comprises of five experts in different disciplines and experiences in the areas of nuclear safety, security, environmental protection, and safeguard.
